'Fireweed and Grass'
A week ago I got out after work with Paul Moon, We went over to the Bishop Wilton area with the aim of photographing the Rosebay Willow Herb wild flowers. It is fascinating to see how quickly this flower can colonize an area that has been cleared of trees.
When we arrived we had the still conditions and cloudy bright light that is perfect for details. Anyway after making a 'warm up' detail image to get me into the swing of it I found a composition I really liked (above). After I made the first sheet, the cloud started to lift and we got a flood of warm light just raking the top of the image. I made a second sheet and it is this one that I really like.
Once I had made this image, I was able to turn my attention to the wider landscape and with sublime light on the foreground and far hillside I was able to make an image using the heavy shadow cast on the trees by the hillside we were standing on.
